Anyone reading this will agree, we all fear failure. We also fear rejection, weight gain, public humiliation, being seen as a loser and anything that drags us down or doesn’t build up our self esteem.
Yet, on a daily basis, aren’t we all striving to do things that make a difference, leave a positive mark/outcome and hopefully improve our reputation simultaneously?
With that in mind, why is it everyone avoids tasks that appear difficult? Because fear kicks in. We don’t want to lead a project, take on a supervisory role, be in charge or be the “go to” person because then might have to be accountable for stuff. And we fear failure might be an end result so we avoid it.
As my friend Berni Xiong has frequently pointed out, now is the time to kick fear in the shins and make sh!t happen!
Make that call. Send that email. ASK for what you want/need from a friend, prospect or colleague.
Go ahead and make a stink. Squeaky wheels get the grease for a reason you know.
