If you’re a guy, my guess is you don’t spoil yourself too often. Maybe you splurge on certain types of food, beer, wine, clothes, gadgets or gear depending on time of year and need. However, when was the last time you experienced a bit of pampering just for yourself?
With that said, recently I paid a visit to Your Father’s Mustache – a barbershop in Hales Corners, Wisconsin – to rediscover the lost art of a barbershop shave and see for myself the benefits a close shave does for a man.
Upon entering the shop, Debbie greeted me cordially and whisked me away to begin my transformation. After numerous rounds of hot towels, shaving oil, hot lather, and a meticulous facial hair overhaul via the use of a clean, straight razor blade, my face was complete. The process was a bit time consuming, but as Alton Brown would say, patience is rewarded.
Lo and behold, the #goodeats host was correct! I could honestly confirm, my face was incredibly soft, supple, smooth and had a splendid, luxurious feel! It was so worth it and I definitely look forward to my next visit.
So go ahead, spoil yourself and make an appointment to see Wally and the team for a shave and a haircut. You won’t be disappointed. Afterwards, you’ll be a better looking man because of it.

My last really *good* shave+haircut combo (where both–not just one or the other–were above average) was around 2005. I can shave myself better than most barbers so I generally stick to just the ‘cut most of the time. Spa barber shaves are usually in the name of research for me. 🙂
